MEET JANET

New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I am excited about running for Knoxville’s city council, At-large, Seat B, so, together, we can work to shape the best future possible for Knoxville.

I am a Knoxville native who has worked in and served many of our community’s important causes for nearly 25 years. I believe in Knoxville. I believe in the people and families who work and live here. I believe in our innovative businesses and entrepreneurs. And I believe in the possibilities that our future holds.

As our city continues to face fast-paced growth, we must have the vision to stay ahead and prepare for that growth and create sustainable development. That means the issues we currently deal with are the same issues that accompany growth, including employment, comprehensive social services to address challenges like mental health and housing as well as infrastructure and zoning concerns. We need to ensure growth equals productivity for our residents and our city’s economic health.

My vision for building on our city’s strong foundation, is about identifying the tools that will equip and protect us from being unprepared when exciting and prosperous opportunities present themselves. Opportunities, not just for our government and business leaders to realize, but opportunities for our entrepreneurs, our dreamers and our children. We want to leverage our resources and create channels of access for those who can help move us toward the future.

My background and experience include owning my own business, working in communications with two of our communities’ largest employers, and leading one of our area’s important nonprofits toward growth and positive change. I’ve also served our community on a multitude of boards and committees for nonprofit organizations.

This experience is why I’m running for Knoxville City Council, At-large, Seat B and exactly the type of experience required of our public officials to help Knoxville realize its greatest potential. My father, a two-term Knoxville mayor, taught me that one person, through ability and action can make a difference, and because of that encouragement and my commitment, I truly understand what it takes to turn words into action and vision into reality. By developing a big-picture action plan, together we can continue the momentum we have in the city. We live in the best city ever. Let’s make the best even better, and I humbly ask for your support and your vote.

With Deepest Gratitude,

Janet Testerman

Candidate, Knoxville City Council, At-Large, Seat B
